The Process Behind the Objects.

Not everything created in the studio becomes part of a collection. Some ideas remain sketches, while others stay as prototypes. This space is a record of the process, decisions, and ideas behind every object.

Philosophy

01Obsidian Studio was founded from a desire to create objects that do not follow trends. We believe that craftsmanship, noble materials, and time are just as important as the finished form itself. Rather than adapting to changing fashions, we continue to develop our own design language and aesthetic—one that naturally resonates with those who appreciate this approach to making. Each object is created slowly by hand, preserving the traces of its making and the character of the material from which it is crafted.

02Every object is created with careful attention to material, proportion, and detail. We do not strive for perfect symmetry or complete uniformity. Rather than pursuing an idealized form, we value the authenticity of the making process and the character that emerges through craftsmanship.

03Subtle variations in texture, finish, or fine details are not imperfections to us. They are a natural result of the handmade process and serve as a reminder that every object is created individually—from the first sketch to the final finishing touches.

Process

01 — Concept

Every object begins with an idea. Sometimes it starts as a quick sketch; other times the form develops only while working with the material.

Each stage of the process brings the object closer to its true form.

03 — Mould

Selected designs receive their own mould, allowing their original character to be preserved. The following stages are still completed by hand, allowing every object to develop its own character while retaining subtle differences in its details.

02 — Wax

This is the stage where an idea takes its first physical form. Each object develops individually, with its shape gradually refined before moving on to the next stages of the making process.

04 — Casting

At this stage, the object is cast in 925 sterling silver. Depending on the design, different casting methods may be used while preserving the character established during the earlier stages.

05 — Finishing

Each object is carefully refined and finished by hand. Surfaces are worked and polished, and when the design calls for it, natural gemstones are carefully set.

06 — Packaging

The final step is preparing the object for its journey. Every piece is packed by hand and leaves the studio only once the entire making process is complete.
