Cookie Policy

§1 General information

This document describes which cookies and comparable technologies the Obsidian Studio online shop uses at the domain obsidianjewels.com, for what purpose, and how you can manage your consent.

The party responsible for the use of these technologies is Natalia Mikulska-Yildirim, Graf-Wilhelm-Straße 28, 89613 Oberstadion, Germany, e-mail: info@obsidianjewels.com.

Further information on the processing of personal data can be found in our Privacy Policy.

§2 What cookies and local storage are

Cookies are small text files that your browser stores on your device when you visit a website.

Browser local storage (localStorage) works in a similar way, but the data remains on your device and is not automatically transmitted to the server each time a page is loaded.

Our shop uses both technologies. In legal terms they are treated alike: both require your consent unless they are strictly necessary for a service you have expressly requested.

§3 Legal bases

Storing information on your device and accessing information already stored there take place on the basis of § 25 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG):

  • strictly necessary technologies — § 25(2) TDDDG, that is, without consent, since the shop cannot function without them,

  • analytics and marketing technologies — § 25(1) TDDDG, exclusively with your consent.

The processing of personal data associated with these technologies is based accordingly on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest) or Article 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent).

§4 Strictly necessary technologies

These are always active and cannot be switched off in the consent banner, because the shop would not function correctly without them. They are not used for tracking, profiling or advertising.

  • cookie-consent (local storage) — stores your decision regarding consent. Retained until you delete it.

  • archive-box (local storage) — the contents of the Box, that is, the shopping cart. Retained until you delete it.

  • checkout-form (local storage) — the details entered in the order form, so that they are not lost if the page is reloaded by accident. Deleted once the order has been placed.

  • NEXT_LOCALE (cookie) — stores the selected language of the website (German, English or Polish) so that pages are shown to you in that language. Deleted when you close your browser.

  • NEXT_CURRENCY (cookie) — stores the currency selected in the switcher in the site header. Set only if you make such a selection; the shop currently sells in euro only. Retention: 12 months.

  • sb-…-auth-token (cookie) — sign-in to the administration area. Concerns the seller only, not shop customers. Retained until sign-out.

§5 Analytics technologies

These are loaded only after you have given consent in the "Analytics" category.

We use Google Analytics, provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. The tool shows us how many people visit the shop, which pages they view and how they found us. We use this data in aggregated form only, in order to develop the shop.

  • _ga (cookie) — distinguishes individual users. Default retention: 2 years.

  • _ga_ with property identifier (cookie) — maintains the state of the measurement session. Default retention: 2 years.

Until you give consent, your browser establishes no connection whatsoever with Google servers. The analytics script is not loaded, not even briefly, while the page is loading.

§6 Marketing technologies

The consent banner includes a "Marketing" category; however, we currently use no marketing or advertising tools at all. No such script is executed, regardless of your decision in this category.

The category remains in the banner in case such tools are introduced in the future. Should that happen, this document will be updated beforehand, and the tools will be loaded only after your consent has been obtained.

§7 Managing your consent

On your first visit we display a banner in which you can accept all categories, reject the optional ones, or select individual categories yourself. The banner is our own solution and does not come from a third-party provider.

Your decision is stored in your browser's local storage. If we change the scope or meaning of the categories, the banner will appear again and ask for a new decision — consent given previously is not automatically carried over to new purposes.

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time via the Cookie Settings link in the site footer. Withdrawal takes effect for the future and does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out beforehand.

§8 Browser settings

Independently of our banner, you can manage cookies in your browser settings — block them, delete stored files, or enable a notification for every attempt to store data. You will find the relevant instructions in your browser's help section.

Blocking strictly necessary technologies may prevent you from using some shop functions, in particular the cart and placing orders.

Deleting stored data will also erase your consent decision — the banner will appear again on your next visit.

§9 Transfers outside the European Economic Area

Using Google Analytics may involve the transfer of data to recipients outside the European Economic Area. Any such transfer takes place solely on the basis of the mechanisms provided for in Chapter V GDPR, in particular an adequacy decision of the European Commission or standard contractual clauses.

Details of the recipients of the data and of the transfer mechanisms are described in our Privacy Policy.

§10 Changes to this Cookie Policy

This document may change, in particular if new tools are introduced, if the way the shop operates changes, or if the applicable law changes.

The current version is always available on the Obsidian Studio website.

§11 Effective date

This Cookie Policy applies from: 27 September 2026.

In the event of any discrepancy between the language versions, the German text prevails. This does not limit the protection afforded to consumers by the mandatory provisions of the law of their country of habitual residence.
