925 Sterling Silver
Obsidian Studio jewelry is handcrafted from natural 925 sterling silver—a precious metal valued for its durability, timeless character, and the ability to be enjoyed for many years. Our jewelry is not rhodium plated, allowing it to retain the authentic appearance of silver and its natural properties.
Natural Oxidation of Silver
925 sterling silver naturally oxidizes over time. Exposure to air, moisture, and substances found in cosmetics, perfumes, or chemicals may gradually cause its surface to darken or lose its shine. This is a completely natural process characteristic of 925 sterling silver and does not affect the quality or durability of the jewelry. The rate at which these changes occur varies from person to person and depends on many factors, including skin pH, natural perspiration, humidity, how often the jewelry is worn, exposure to water, cosmetics, perfumes, and the way it is stored. For some people, silver retains its original appearance for many years, while for others these natural changes may appear sooner. PS. Selected Obsidian Studio designs feature natural precious or semi-precious gemstones. Each stone is unique and may vary in color, structure, transparency, or natural inclusions. These characteristics are part of their natural beauty and make every piece of jewelry one of a kind. Natural gemstones also vary in hardness and resistance to damage. To help preserve their beauty, we recommend avoiding strong impacts, dropping the jewelry, and exposing the stones to chemical substances.
